After artwork is submitted, there is a 90 day period for us to work with you to determine if it is something that can be included in our inventory. If it is, we own the artwork and the copyright. If we do not, the copyright stays with the original artist.
There is a non-commercial license which allows the artist to display the work in any portfolio, personal website, socials, etc, so long as it is not for sale.
The license is non-commercial and does not allow for selling it in other places.
Artist Interest
We are looking for more people to join our artist team. If you are selected to be part of the art team, the process is pretty simple: all designs that end up on a product are logged and a percentage of all sales go to the artist.
We don't care what training you have, where you live in the world, what your previous jobs have been. There is a basic application process to get started. You must be over the age of 18 (no exceptions), and the files you submit must be in the following formats:
12x16 inches or 30x40cm
300dpi
png
transparent background
You must be able to create files that are
either psd or ai (no alternatives accepted)
in the same style as the existing artwork in our store
the same design in both light and dark versions for light and dark shirts
from an idea list on our team
We will not accept every piece of art submitted. We do work as a team and will provide feedback and try to make designs work. But ultimately sometimes a design just isn't a good fit and goes in the bin and we try again.
If you are interested and would like to get started, please create three sample pieces of artwork in the general style from the Big Beaver website to mesh vibes and submit it with this form. Also include a URL for us to see your artwork -- it can be your regular website, a portfolio, anything. The style of art there does not have to match ours. We understand people can make all kinds of art!
The Details
We tried our best to outline the details as we could. If you have more questions after you apply, we are happy to do our best.
Of course!
As under this agreement we own the copyright, it is automatically in perpetuity and cannot be terminated. We are also able to design and merchandise with it however we see fit.
Yes, you submit the idea to us, it's ours. We can negotiate this with you, if you want to sell it somewhere. Contact us.
Once a design is submitted and accepted, it is ours in perpetuity. Rejected designs remain the property of the artist. In the event of nonpayment because we were unable to successfully connect with you, we will hold the funds for 3 months max and make multiple attempts of contact through all contact methods we have on file. If we don't hear from you by the end of 90 days, you are welcome to reapply in the future, but the current agreement is terminated, and we own all images, even if some were pending for rejection.
You're welcome to terminate the agreement at any time, but that mainly just means you stop getting paid. We still own the image.
When the agreement is terminated we retain all ownership of designs submitted, approved or otherwise. If a designer revokes any non-approved designs prior to termination of agreement, then they may keep copyright of those designs.
